Aztec is a privacy-focused layer-2 built on Ethereum using zero-knowledge proofs, designed to let smart contracts and transactions stay confidential by default while still being verifiable onchain — a different emphasis from most L2s, which optimize purely for scale rather than shielding transaction details.
